Basil essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of the basil plant. It has a strong, sweet, and herbaceous aroma. It is believed to have a number of health benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving digestion, and boosting the immune system. 

It is stimulating, uplifting and is often used to aid concentration for study and exams. Basil oil is said to help with respiratory problems and it is very clearing. It is also said to help with soothing sore muscles and everyday aches and pains. It can also be handy to keep the bugs away.  Basil oil is said to be a natural energy booster for mind and body. It is an antiseptic, a natural expectorant and a tonic. Basil oil is also used in a very famous perfumery brand in the combination of Basil, Mandarin and Lime essential oils.

Blends well with these essential oils: Sweet Marjoram, Bergamot, Clary Sage, Citronella, Lime, Mandarin and Geranium.

PRECAUTIONS:Basil essential oil should not be used during pregnancy. It may cause sensitization and must be used in moderation (dilutions of no more than 1%). Prolonged use should also be avoided.
